Preparing for your hypnotherapy sessions
Congratulations on taking the next steps toward tinnitus relief. This short guide will help you prepare so you can get the most benefit from your Tinnihush sessions.
The audio lasts about 20 to 25 minutes, so allow yourself at least half an hour when you won’t be disturbed. It helps to pick a regular time, perhaps early evening or before bed, so that it becomes a consistent routine.
Before you begin, avoid exercise right beforehand, and skip stimulants like coffee, tea, or energy drinks for at least three hours. Visit the bathroom so you can stay comfortable, and drink a glass of water to stay hydrated.
Put your phone on aeroplane mode or silent, and switch off any notifications or smart-speaker chimes. If you have a landline, unplug it. Let anyone you live with know you’d like some quiet time without interruptions.
Next, prepare your space. Dim the lights, adjust the room temperature, and choose where you’ll relax - whether that’s your bed with your head slightly raised, a reclining chair, or a supportive sofa. Have a blanket or eye mask nearby if you like.
Wear your most comfortable clothes: a tracksuit, pyjamas, or warm socks. Make sure your body feels safe, supported, and relaxed. Keep your arms and legs uncrossed, with your feet slightly apart.
Headphones are recommended, since they block out distractions and help you focus on the voice, but if you prefer speakers, that’s fine too. Set the volume at a level where you can follow comfortably without straining.
Before pressing play, take a minute to settle your body and your breath. Inhale gently through your nose, exhale a little longer than you inhale, letting your belly rise and fall. Soften your jaw, your tongue, your hands, and your stomach. Allow your eyes to feel heavy.
When you’re ready, press play and close your eyes. Simply follow the voice as a gentle guide. There’s nothing you need to do perfectly. If your mind wanders, or if you notice sounds or sensations such as tinnitus, allow them to be there and gently return your attention to the narration and your breath.
Sometimes, the words or suggestions may feel unusual, abstract, or even unexpected. This is perfectly natural. Hypnotherapy works best when the mind is open to new patterns. Even if something sounds out of place, just keep listening and let the words flow through you. Trust that your subconscious mind is absorbing what is helpful, even when your conscious mind doesn’t fully understand.
If you drift off to sleep, don’t worry - your subconscious is still listening. But if it happens often, try an earlier time of day, sit a little more upright, or keep the room cooler to help you stay awake.
When the session ends, take a moment to reorient. Wiggle your fingers and toes, open your eyes, and take a few deeper breaths. Relax for a few minutes before moving on with your day, and avoid driving or making big decisions immediately afterwards.
Change is gradual, and consistency is key. The more regularly you listen, the stronger the results. Perhaps pair your session with an existing daily habit, such as brushing your teeth or winding down for bed.
If you have a medical or mental-health condition, consult a qualified professional. And never listen while driving or operating machinery.
So, take a deep breath, get comfortable, and press play.
Good luck on your journey with Tinnihush - may each session bring you closer to relief and calm.
Don't forget: the solution to your tinnitus could be the Tinnihush therapy programme.
